If they were made here instead of being subject to a plethora of taxes things would look different. Instead BYD are setting up large fabs in Europe and Brazil – in 30 industrial parks worldwide. Not here…

In 2050 when the rest of the world are driving around in Teslas and Chinese EV’s Ford, GM, Toyota and Stellantis will still have SA and the American Red states as fossil fuel dumping grounds.

I drive everyday about 50km. I’m totally off grid and my system process enough electricity to charge an EV every second or third day when I’ve done a 100 or 200km.
However! WTF is wrong with the prices of EV? You take away a complete motor, petrol tank, fuel pump etc and put in batteries and a electric motor and all of a sudden the car is R100K to R200K more than the same petrol car?
Bring down the price and people will start buying more and more EV but untill then, we are living in a pipe dream
